On Thursday evening, May 17th, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, there will be a training session for volunteers to help STINAPA transplant sponges at Bonaire’s Salt Pier. This session will be held at the offices of Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance (DCNA).
It’s time for some pier renovation at the salt pier and Cargill and STINAPA are working together to save as much marine life as possible at this very biodiverse and popular dive site. If you are an experienced diver and would like to help STINAPA transplant sponges from areas that will be under construction to areas safe from construction at the salt pier, please join our training session. We will explain the project, describe the protocol, walk through the methods (dry run) and plan some dives.
Caren Eckrich, STINAPA biologist, and Dee Scarr of Touch the Sea, will train the volunteers. Please RSVP at firstname.lastname@example.org if you plan to attend. See you at Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance – Kaya Finlandia 10a (opposite City Shop) on Thursday, May 17th, 7:00 to 8:00 PM.
