World Wetlands Day
February 2 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am AST
World Wetlands Day occurs annually on February 2nd, marking the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on February 2, 1971. Wetlands are important wildlife areas that may include several different ecosystems, such as mangrove forests, seagrass beds, saliñas, and coral reefs nurseries. Bonaire has many wetlands, one of which is Lac Bay, our beautiful, mangrove area on the east coast, which gives shelter to many marine creatures, as well as varied bird species, some of whom use Lac as a stopover as they migrate from pole to pole.
This year of the STINAPA Jubilee, there will be special activities to celebrate this landmark day. With truly for anyone and everyone in mind, STINAPA has planned a fun morning at Lac Cai with kids’ activities, small excursions (kayaking, snorkeling, birdwatching, and underwater viewing via a bathyscope), an information booth, and a beach cleanup.
Don’t miss this fun event!
