Sunset Hike of Brandaris, Bonaire’s Highest Point, in Washington-Slagbaai National Park
June 3 @ 5:00 pm - 8:30 pm AST$10.00
Brandaris Trail is a hike to the highest peak on Bonaire, 241 m (784 ft.) high. This is a medium-difficulty climb, and the view from the top is a really fantastic reward for making the trip. On a clear day you can see the island of Curaçao, and, on exceptionally clear days, the Santa Ana Hill in the Paraguaná Peninsula of Venezuela, and the mountain range south of Puerto Cabello, Venezuela. Don’t forget to put on some walking shoes that are comfortable. Bring a flashlight along in case needed on your way back. Bring your own bottle of water and snacks.
Telephone STINAPA to register your participation, there is space for 20 participants. Good fitness is necessary, and children ten years and older may participate only if accompanied by an adult. Meet at the entrance of The Washington Slagbaai National Park before 4:00 PM, so the hike can begin on time. Participants must arrange their own transport to and within the park.
Participants must be present at the entrance of the park before 4 pm. A good physical condition is important and children 10 years and up may participate only if accompanied by an adult. Put on hiking shoes and bring your own water and a snack and don’t forget to bring a flashlight.
Part of the hike is quite a clamber to the top, but once you reach it the views are spectacular! Part of the descent will be after sundown and in the dark, so make sure you have a working light! Everyone will be back at the park entrance around 8.00 pm.
