Bonaire Bird Photography Tours.

Most visitors who birdwatch on Bonaire have only limited time to spend birding, as they are busy with other activities such as diving, windsurfing, or kiteboarding. To maximize the experience, the assistance of a local guide can help, especially if you wish pointers and tips on bird photography, or just desire a gallery of digital images from your birding experience. Photographing birds can be a fun and challenging experience!  Be sure to bring your camera with your largest zoom capability.

Birding tours, plus a focus on photography.

Susan Davis, a certified bird guide, offers birding tours with a focus on photography.

Choose between:

  • Having Susan assist you with tips and tricks to help you improve your own bird photography, or
  • Having Susan capture images of the birds found on your birding tour, and provide these images to you in a digital gallery.

Her tours are limited to only three participants so that birds are not as shy and nervous as when a larger group approaches.  The small groups also ensure that individual attention can be given to all participants.

Larger groups can be accommodated upon request.  Email Susan to check details.

Photographic bird tours are custom-tailored to the wishes of the participants.

Southern tour.

In general, the southern tour is more a driving tour with stops made when birds are encountered.  On this route, it is likely you’ll be able to see birds such as flamingos, ospreys (seasonal), herons, egrets, and a variety of shorebirds (seasonal, more prevalent during migration seasons).

Northern tour.

The northern tour is more suited to birding in specific areas, so several stops are planned in and around excellent birding locations. On this route, it is likely to find flamingos, parrots (depending upon the time of day), parakeets, terrestrial birds, and, in wetlands egrets, herons and shorebirds (seasonal, more prevalent during migration seasons).

Custom tours.

Custom tours can be conducted to directly address the wishes of the participants.  Additionally, birding hotspots on Bonaire which do not have convenient access on the southern tour or nothern tour, such as the fresh water ponds at the sewage treatment plant, can be included.

What will you see on a bird photography tour?

Susan likes to bird with an open mind–go out and see what the day presents to you.  However, if there is a specific bird you wish to see, she will do her utmost to find one for you.  But nature is unpredictable, and there never can be guarantees.  Season, time of day, wind, and weather can all affect what birds will be encountered on any given day.
