First Annual Barracuda / Sedrebo International
Open Water Swim Competition

General Rules

Sedrebo

All course distances will be accurately measured by GPS in advance.

Inscription must be completed 1 hr before race start. For all races, but particularly the 5K, we prefer all inscriptions be completed the evening before.

Racers must be present at the start at the assigned times for check-in, numbering, rules and any last minute safety advisories. NO fins, gloves, snorkel or other swim aids are permitted. Dive mask (without snorkel) or goggles and wetsuits are permitted. All swimmers must wear the caps provided, with numbers on side (not front back or other).

The starter will advise swimmers when they may enter the water. This will be at least 5 minutes prior to the start of the race. We ask swimmers not to enter early as they may interfere with the finish of a previous race. The starter will give warnings 3, 2 and 1 minutes ahead of the start and then will announce "take your marks", followed by the start horn. (Air horn)

The start line will be an imaginary line between two buoys. All starts and finishes will be near the small pier at the south end of the Kas di Regatta.

On all races, swimmers will pass with the shallow row of mooring buoys on the swimmers left side (Going south swimming in deeper water, north in shallower). In the 1.5k and 5k swims, swimmers may be disqualified for passing the buoys on the wrong side. In the 500 the judging will be more lenient however we expect the best effort from all swimmers as this will help to avoid collisions.

All swimmers must go around the turn buoy.

If a swimmer feels that they are in danger or need help, wave to the safety boats and move clear of other swimmers so the safety boat can approach or swim to shore.

It is okay to stand up in the shallow water and then continue the race, however, you may not exit and re-enter the water.

If you exit by boat or shore before completing the race you must still check out with exit officials at the finish line. The finish line will be inside a "funnel" created by a line with buoys and the actual finish will be an imaginary line between the final 2 buoys. To finish you must swim inside this "funnel."

When you have finished, please continue to move forward and clear of the finish line. Exit to shore side of finishing funnel so as not to interfere with other swimmers finishing.

Upon exiting water you must check out with exit officials on shore.

Race officials may ask any swimmer to leave the water at any time, particularly if they feel they are no longer able to continue safely or they are intentionally hindering other swimmers.

All swimmers swim at their own risk.
