Seeing the Sights and Tours Around Bonaire

One of the best ways of getting an overview of Bonaire is to take a guided tour with one of the island's professional companies. There a number of them on Bonaire that can handle large groups and individually personalized tours as well. The island, while small, offers quite a diverse choice of scenery and topography. The tour to the north has more foliage and gentle hills, while the south resembles more of a moonscape, with flat vistas reaching the sea and huge man-made mountains of salt visible from anywhere on the island.

Bonaire Tours & Vacations specialize in handling both small and large groups. Achie Tours specializes in large groups and transfers. For more focused excursions, Soldachi Tours caters to individuals and small groups. Almost all of the taxi cab drivers are trained tour guides as well.

After your initial guided excursion, you will probably want to return to one or two of the spots you visited. Car, scooter or bike rentals are quite affordable and, since Bonaire is an island, it is almost impossible to get lost. There are lots of good maps available and there is new signage that helps to direct visitors.

Another option is the self-guided walking tour of downtown Kralendijk. The tourist office has a detailed map with the points of interest clearly designated. Whatever your choice, Bonaire has a wide variety of sights and experiences, which keep visitors coming back year after year.

Rincon is the oldest village on Bonaire. Each Saturday is "Marshe di Rincon", the local market day, but the largest of these markets occur on the first Saturday of each month. It is the perfect opportunity to take a walking tour of Rincon and visit the museum "Kas Krioyo Rincon", a restored home. Walking and bus tours from Soldachi Tours are available market days or on-request basis.
