Washington
Slagbaai was the first Natural Sanctuary in the Netherlands
Antilles. It covers almost 25% of the area on the
northern part of the island and is home to many species
of flora and fauna that make Bonaire an environmental
paradise.
Four
rangers and a manager work in the Washington Slagbaai
National Park. The park is open for visitors daily
(With exception of certain public holidays). Great
bird watching, snorkeling, beautiful fauna and flora.
Be
sure to stop at the new Visitors' Center, at the main
entrance to the Park. Here you'll find a museum, gift
shop, the beginning of hiking trails, as well as information
about diving, kayaking, or bicycling in the Park.
