AMERICAN EAGLE ANNOUNCES NON-STOP SERVICE FROM SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO TO BONAIRE

Kralendijk, Bonaire (February 26, 2001) Beginning on June 2, 2001 American Eagle, the regional affiliate of American Airlines, will introduce nonstop service from San Juan, Puerto Rico to Bonaire.  Using American Airlines' San Juan hub, the new service will provide visitors to Bonaire with more flexibility in choosing a flight route.

Using a 64-seat Super ATR 72 airplane, American Eagle flight #5622 will depart San Juan at 6:10 p.m. on Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday arriving into Bonaire at 8:20 p.m.  On Sunday, Wednesday and Friday American Eagle flight #5623 will depart Bonaire at 6:25 a.m. arriving into San Juan at 8:45 a.m.

"We could not be more pleased with American Eagle's decision to initiate service to Bonaire," said Ramonsito Booi, Bonaire's Commissioner of Tourism.  "The service, which allows for connections from most American Airlines flights into San Juan, will not only make Bonaire more accessible from North America, but will also increase the number of seats to Bonaire, which during peak times are in great demand."

In conjunction with the introductory fare offered by American Airlines/American Eagle,  nineteen (19) of Bonaire's hotels, resorts and vacation properties are offering special promotional packages to celebrate the launch of service, including Bel-Mar Oceanfront Hotel and Apartments, Bonaire Town Homes, Buddy Dive Resort, Captain Don's Habitat, Coco Palm Gardens, Deep Blue View Bed & Breakfast, Divers Paradise Bonaire, Divi Flamingo Beach Resort and Casino, Eden Beach Resort, Happy Holiday Homes, Harbour Village Beach Resort, Kontiki Beach Club, Lagoen Hill Bungalows, Lions Dive Hotel, Plaza Resort Bonaire, Port Bonaire, Sand Dollar Condominium Resort, Sun Rentals Bonaire, and Sun Ocean Front Apartments.

Located eighty-six miles east of Aruba and well outside the hurricane belt, the Dutch Caribbean island of Bonaire offers year-round sunshine, low annual rainfall, pristine coral formations and the most thriving fish population in the Caribbean.  Ideal for adventurers, explorers and sun-worshippers alike, Bonaire offers myriad eco-adventure activities including world renowned scuba diving and snorkeling, windsurfing, mountain biking, kayaking, horseback riding, nature tours, hiking, bird watching, sailing and deep sea and bone fishing.

Bonaire is currently served by Air ALM with daily flights from Miami, and Air Jamaica with Wednesday and Saturday non-stop service from Montego Bay, Jamaica.
