Welcome to China Nobo, one of Bonaire's oldest restaurants that's been in continuous operation. China Nobo opened its doors back in 1985, when Bonaire's fledgling tourist industry was just beginning. Located in Nikiboko, China Nobo offers an alternative to expensive dinners out--you can call ahead for carry-out or delivery, or sit back and relax and enjoy your freshly prepared lunch or dinner in their air-conditioned dining room.

Annie Chan, her husband, Wayman, and son, Samuel, offer excellent quality with good prices. The Chan family re-located to Bonaire in 1975 from China, so they can provide the real thing--excellent Chinese food! Serving mostly Cantonese, some Schwezwan meals are on the menu, but anything can be spiced to your exact specifications.

No part of your meal is made in advance. Every meat or vegetable is cut or diced only when you place your order. This means that you may have to be more patient than normal when awaiting your meal, but it's well worth the wait when you get an artfully prepared meal with fresh ingredients.

China Nobo's two Chinese-born chefs came to Bonaire only after being professionally trained in China and only after they had each received experience in the industry back home. Each one now creates a masterpiece on your plate.

The menu is wide and varied, with appetizers, soups, seafoods, and dishes with meat, pork, steak, or curry. Such Chinese favorites as Chop Suey, Chow Mien, and Fried Rice are available with several options.

Additionally, China Nobo offers their Chef's Special Cantonese Dishes, with such a variety as Shrimp Foo Yong, Almond Chicken, Tau See Beef, Hung Siew Fish, or Kung Bo Chicken, among many other options. For those with a hankering for local food, the restaurant offers popular Indonesian dishes such as Nasi Goreng or Bami Goreng; Chicken Chicharon is another local favorite.

Annie's sweet & sour sauce is famous on Bonaire. She has to make an ample supply, because the locals come by simply to purchase her sauce to use in their own home cooking. Of course, light meals, such as omelets and salads, are always available.

For those on the go at lunchtime, pick up the China Nobo Lunch to Go, for only FL 6.00 or USD $3.37. Choose from a variety of lunches served with fries, fried rice, or chow mien.

When next visiting Bonaire, do as the New York Times did--be sure to have lunch or dinner at China Nobo. A staffwriter of the New York Times was so impressed with the food, he did a write-up on the restaurant. China Nobo probably has the distinction of being one of a very few Bonaire restaurants to receive such honor.

The map at right shows the location of China Nobo in the town of Nikiboko; it's easily found from both the roads from Kralendijk or the airport, or many find it convenient simply to follow the road from the ocean in front of Divi Flamingo Beach Resort & Casino, inland. Simply cross two four-way intersections, and you'll find the restaurant on your right.
