Calendar of Events on Bonaire

If you are visiting the island during a legal holiday, please be aware that grocery stores may be closed or have adjusted hours. Gas stations may also be closed on legal holidays. Credit cards are not accepted at gas stations so make sure you plan accordingly.

  • March 30 – April 6, 2024 – Bonaire Watersports and Wellness Adventure. Enjoy a vacation that combines wellness, adventure, and gratitude on the Island of Bonaire. Daily yoga classes, healthy dining, and exciting watersport excursions are included in each adventure. Book in advance.

  • April 6, 2024 – MoltenWolf Glass Pop-Up Gallery – MoltenWolf Glass is hosting a Pop-Up Gallery event with Sharking Daily Illustrator Rosaly Van Dansik. With a passion for conservation, sharks, and other overlooked sea creatures, she paints and illustrates beautiful art. Stop by to shop her T-shirts, (hand printed) tote bags, paintings, postcards, stickers, and more! Location: Terramar 8 from 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM in Playa.

  • April 22, 2024 – Earth Day
  • Dinner under the Full Moon in Rincon (Sena na Mesa Largu Bou di Lus di Luna Yen den di Rincon)This magnificent event will take place on April 23rd in the heart of Rincon: on the streets of Kaya Cornelis D. Crestian, where we will set a long table with 300 seats for a special 5-course traditional dinner. Tickets for the event are available at Posada Para Mira for $100, which includes a 5-course meal and 2 drinks of your choice.

  • April 30, 2024 – Dia di Rincon / Rincon Day. This is a legal holiday. Some businesses and most government offices are closed.

May 2024

  • May 1, 2024 – Labor Day. This is a legal holiday. Some businesses and most government offices are closed.​
  • May 4, 2024 – International Firefighters Day
  • May 12, 2024 – Clean Coast Bonaire. Volunteer for the monthly beach cleanup. Location: Piedra Pretu from 4 PM- 6 PM. Find out more info on their website.
  • May 14, 2024 – Global Big Day. This is a 24-hour event where people worldwide who love birds go out and count species.
  • May 9, 2024 – Ascension Day. This is a legal holiday. Some businesses and most government offices are closed.
  • May 23 – June 6, 2024 – Bonaire Culinair. The event is a 15-day event is the opportunity to discover the wide variety of restaurants Bonaire has to offer. The top of culinary hotspots on Bonaire have created special menus during this time. Most participating restaurants will offer a 3-course menu for $ 39.50 but prices may vary. More details to follow. 
  • May 31, 2024 – World Parrot Day

June 2024

  • June 17-23, 2024 – Pride Bonaire. During the 2nd Annual Pride Bonaire, there will be various events, information about health, and, of course, fun! More info to follow.

July 2024

  • September 21, 2024 – World Cleanup Day. World Cleanup Day falls on the 3rd Saturday of September each year. Help keep Bonaire clean by picking up litter.

October 2024

  • October 7 – 12, 2024 – 57th Edition Bonaire International Regatta. Dates are TBD
  • Beginning of October – Jong Bonaire “Swim to Klein.” 22nd Edition. Typically the first weekend in October. Date is TBD
  • October 13, 2024 – Clean Coast Bonaire. Volunteer for the monthly beach cleanup. Location: Boka Onima from 4 PM- 6 PM. Find out more info on their website.
  • Mid October – Global Big Day. This is a 24-hour event where people worldwide who love birds go out and count species.

November 2024

  • Mid-November 2024 – Sanikolas, Sinterklaas, Old St. Nick. Arrival at Wilhelmina Park by boat. Date is TBD

December 2024

  • December 15, 2024 – Kingdom Day. This is a legal holiday. Some businesses and most government offices are closed.
  • Mid December 2024 – Christmas Shopping Night – Date is TBD
  • December 25, 2024 – Christmas Day. This is a legal holiday. Most businesses and government offices, including Washington Slagbaai National Park and supermarkets, are closed.
  • December 26, 2024 – Boxing Day. This is a legal holiday. Most businesses and government offices are closed.
  • December 31, 2024 – New Year’s Eve Fireworks over Bonaire

January 2025

  • January 1, 2025 – New Year’s Day. This is a legal holiday. Most businesses and government offices are closed, including the Washington Slagbaai National Park and the supermarkets.
  • January 2025 (date is TBD)- Clean Coast Bonaire. Volunteer for the monthly beach cleanup.
  • January 2025 (date is TBD) – Annual Lora (Parrot) Roost Count. Echo Foundation relies heavily on volunteers to assist with the annual parrot count.
  • End of January 2025 (date is TBD) – Ride for Roses. Ride, Walk, or Swim to support the fight against cancer. Walking is 7km or 9km. Cycling is either 13km or 20km. Swim is 700m.

February 2025

  • February 2, 2025 – World Wetland Day. World Wetlands Day occurs annually on February 2nd, marking the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on February 2, 1971. Wetlands are important wildlife areas that may include several different ecosystems, such as mangrove forests, seagrass beds, saliñas, and coral reefs nurseries.

Carnival (Karnaval) 2025 Schedule – Mid Feb 2025 (TBD) through March 4, 2025

This year is the 50th anniversary of Carnival (Karnaval) on Bonaire! It should take place mid-February through beginning of March 2025.Carnival has always ended the night prior to the beginning of Lent so the Adult Grand Parades are expected to be the 1st weekend of March. Dates are currently all TBD based on knowledge of previous years and the beginning of Lent.

    • Mid February – 1 or 2 Tumba Festivals (Dates are TBD). Learn more about Tumba. 
    • February 22nd  (Date is TBD / estimate based on previous years and beginning of Lent)– Children’s Parade in Rincon. Parade typically begins at 3 PM and ends at 6 PM (estimated times based on prior years).
    • February 23rd (Date is TBD / estimate based on previous years and beginning of Lent)  – Children’s Parade in KralendijkParade typically begins at 3 PM and ends at 6 PM (estimated times based on prior years).
    • March 1st (Date is TBD / estimate based on previous years and beginning of Lent) Adult Grand Parade in Rincon. Parade typically begins at 2 PM and ends at 6 PM (estimated times based on prior years).
    • March 2nd (Date is TBD / estimate based on previous years and beginning of Lent) – Adult Grand Parade in Kralendijk. Parade begins at 1 PM and ends at 6 PM (estimated times based on prior years). It typically begins at Van Den Tweel, passing by the stadium as it rounds the corner near Kaya Grandi, up to the church and back to Van Den Tweel).
    • March 3rd (Date is TBD / estimate based on previous year and beginning of Lent) – Children’s/ Teen / Elder Farewell Parade (Start time is TBD)
    • March 4th (Date is TBD / estimate based on previous years and beginning of Lent) – Adult Farewell Grand Parade in Kralendijk at night with the Burning of King Momo at Midnight (the night before Lent). Parade begins at 8 PM and ends at 12 AM (estimated times based on prior years).
